Team American, can you enhance upon the review of the class you took??? Can you enhance upon your review of the book if you have finished reading it?

APachon, the live course was basically a hands-on version of the book....
we started with an hour-and-a-half safety lecture, and then drove over Kenosha Pass to a National Forest area that had been reserved for our use.
The class had almost 20 people, and was 50% female. Skill level ranged from novice to experienced.
Focus began on trigger control...prep press reset prep...and learning the characteristics of our own individual firearm's trigger. Shooting drills for the rest of the day had an emphasis on learning the isosceles stance and grip, and proper weapon control.
The following day, we met at the shooting area and continued with more advanced exercises geared toward teaching familiarity and control. We then learned the proper draw stroke in several steps, with a lot of repetition.
Overall, the class was geared toward teaching inexperienced shooters the basics of proper gun handling....I really learned a lot. Andy is an interesting character with a good teaching touch.

Andy is a neat guy. His speech and mannerisms remind me more of a computer network administrator than a gunfighting instructor. I really like his video that he put out with Mike Janich (Martial Marksmanship).

I have read In The Gravest Extreme about 5 times and like to read it at least once a year to keep it fresh. This is the definative tomb on the when to shoot and the aftermath of taking said shot.

I have just finished reading The Gun Digest Tactical Handgun 5th Edition book by Massad Ayoob and would highly recommend it, it has already helped me out.

Now there is also More Guns, Less Crime by John R. Lott Jr. This is also a must read that will help you fight back against the antis. Having the stats to shoot down their preposterous arguements is good knowledge to have.

If you have The Gravest Extreme, any book by Cooper on rifles and Keith's "Sixguns," the rest is icing on the cake.

I think the reason these impress me is that they represent an unvarnished look at modrn firearms and the life we lead now. If I'm looking for some spiritual mumbo-jumbo I'll decide of my own choosing where and how that impacts my life.

For example, Keith explains his distaste for the 9x19 while describing the story of a policeman who shot the wrong man, a black cowboy. The three paragraph essay is unintentionally racist, politically incorrect and the tragic report of an innocent life taken.

It is, however, factual.

If that essay ever could see the light of day in modern journalism, it would be so sanitized and full of disclaimers that the purpose of the story would be a lesser point.

When I'm dealing with such a serious issue, I want to know the crux of important items, warts and all. I'll apply my own standards.
