Just finished Principles of Personal Defense....
After all of that, I have one question? What is the April Fool's Joke he refers too? I tried surfing the web, but you can imagine what I came up with. Good read, and I have relevent questions and points taken away from the book; but this is something I have to know. Thanks in advance. bm

It may have sommething to do with the sale of Gunsite. From Jeff Cooper's Commentaries -
"The first day of April, 1993, was the date of the great lynch party and auto da fe at Gunsite. Just one year ago the extent of my folly in selling the body of my life's work was made clear to me by the purchaser, in front of his henchmen assembled. Selling the ranch and the school was not in itself a disaster, but selling it to the wrong man was the greatest mistake of my life. It was entirely my fault, an error in character evaluation that I simply cannot explain nor excuse. It is bitter to be frustrated by enemies, but it is dreadfully moreso to be conned by one who posed as a friend. Well, so be it. It was my blunder, and now I pay the price, along with my friends and followers. I have not entirely "plowed the sea," however. There are those who know, and they will continue to preach the word".

Well, I don't know what the Colonel meant, but I don't think it had anything to do with his selling of Gunsite.
He refers to the April Fool joke in the "Surprise" principle. He says it is a law enforcement joke.

That is correct Captain Crunch. I was wondering if anyone here (LEO or not) was aware of what this joke is. It sounds like it may be a little on the salty side, so if it is unfit for print here send a PM.
