Anyone read....(LE specific)??

Tactics for Criminal Patrol: Vehicle Stops, Drug Discovery and Officer Survival

OR

Anatomy of a Motor Vehicle Stop: Essentials of Safe Traffic Enforcement

I have my application in for local SO, and will probably picked up in Aug, according to the recruiter.

Are they worth the money ($99 - $125 EA) to get a jump start on training?

IMHo training is worth what YOU take away from it . It is worth what you pay if you learn from it . As far as an LE job goes , well critical incident training is never bad , however they will retrain you to suit the agency lol .

I wouldn't recommend spending that kind of coin on materials which may not be in line with what you will be expected to learn at the academy.

I've read them both, and they are a little dated, but still an excellent read with a ton of good info.
I wouldnt read them now, as most of the stuff will be over your head without any experiance to relate to. I'd wait until you are out of FTO and settled in, then read.

Gotcha.. Picked up some other 'rookie' type books.

Just got the call that reserve classes start Aug 4 and will run through Dec.

Time to put the studying cap on.

I have Tactics for Criminal Patrol... Bought it in 89 at a Calibre Press Street Survival seminar. It was a bit dated then but so much of the information really has no expiration date. It can save your life. Should be in every LEO's library.

I haven't read Anatomy of a Motor Vehicle Stop.
