Ban the thread title "What would you do?"

We have three of them running now. How about a new policy in this topic section that the thread title has to be a scenario qualifier like "You and your spouse, afternoon walk by the lake" or 11:00 pm and screaming down the hall of an apt complex"?

I have to agree. Put a descriptive title in that helps the readers know what it is about before they click.

Here are others I would ban:

See, it's a reasonable restriction on the USE of those words. He isn't saying you can never use those words, but that in some cases, for the protection of everybody's sanity/safety they should not be used together.

I see a huge difference between this 'reasonable restriction' and an outright ban.

So are you saying that you would store all these words in an unassembled fashion in your computer and, if a thread appears at 2 am, you have to go to your computer, turn it on, assemble the words and THEN be ready to rebuke the thread?

I think Illinois and Washington, DC already ban the use of these words, in any order. I have seen numerous news reports of BGs using these words in an illegal fashion.

I dunno man. I see this going all the way to the Supreme Court.

"Do what you would" wouldn't work in the same situations.

"Would what you do ..." has potential.

"You, what would do" is a bit "East End" for my tastes, but it'll work in a pinch.

"Do what? Would you? might even work, but only in response to someone else's choice.

"Would you do what?" is right out, since irony/satire is already on the list.

Hm. Plenty of options, I suppose. Not the same thing, though. (Sort of like being relegated to using a knife when a gun's banned, or a stiff pen when a knife is off-limits.)

Either way, we're left with this, the presumption that another knows what one's thoughts and expression should instead be.

Sorry about this Sticks...I couldn't help myself.

What would you have done? (I probably need a class III permit for that statement.)

Well, you did put a "pistol grip" on that sentence, there, with changing the form of "do" to "done." That makes it a high-powered sentence, there. We can't condone misuse of phraseology here. It's an offense to all Lords here present. "String 'im up in ir'ns, guv! String 'im!"
