Couldn't resist either, very old Colt.
New Service. According to Wilson's book it was made in June of 1917. It was issued to a field grade officer at Ft. Huachuca who retired in Tucson. In the late 40's he had Bob Jenson configure it to 45 Colt from 45 ACP. Re-Blued in the deep Colt Blue, and real Ivory grips put on. I think I'm going to get a Threeperson's holster from El Paso Saddelry and carry it under a jacket in the winter.

The New Service is my favorite Colt DA revolver. Yours is a good looking one. One could sure do worse than have a .45 M1917 for self defense.

That's a beauty. I'd love to find a good example.

Resist heck, I'd have my credit card out so fast my wallet wouldn't even leave my jeans.

I had one once but traded it.
My original intention when I bought it was to chop it into a snubbie but, I just couldn't butcher it so I traded it. The .45 LONG COLT is one of my favorite cartridge calibers. I need to buy a Cowboy Gun in .45 LC - I miss not shooting that cartridge. Congrats on that firearm. That is a classic handgun and Ivory Grips...look So Good on there. Yes, they do! Enjoy it...you really found yourself a super nice handgun. They are very accurate too if your bore is in decent condition and your eyesight is still keen.

Nice Colt, I'm not so sure I'd carry it though.

Gorgeious! I don't think I'd carry it though...It'd have to be a "safe queen" for me.
