If you are talking about the large lever on the right side, that's the take-down lever. It does have a manual safety that is lowered in front of the trigger by pushing down on the tabs at the front of the trigger guard. It is deactivated by pushing the bar up and into the frame with your trigger finger.

I personally like the manual safety because it can be deactivated very quickly with your trigger finger, while it's on the trigger.
