Sig Slimfit grips for P220
Have a question for those of you who are more knowledgable than I am on Sigs.
I have an old style (long hammer spring) P220, and would like to try the new slimfit grips that just came available now. I'm thinking I will need to change out the hammer strut/hammer spring and spring guide to the newer style, Am I correct on this? Would I also need to change out the triggerbar spring to clear the new grip style? Any info would be appreciated! |

I'm afraid I don't know the gunsmithing details, but you could try calling SIG to get an answer. I can tell you that I put the slim grips on my P220 and like them very much. I don't own a 1911 for comparison, but the grip size seems very comparable to that now.
(Essentially, the slim grips do entirely away with the lanyard loop at the base of the backstrap, thus making the overall grip profile flatter, less round.) |

Interesting. I'm still looking for aftermarket grips for my P220 SAO. I haven't found anyone who makes them. Who's making the 'slimfit' grips? Plastic or rubber?

Thanks for the link. Here lies the rub----Mine is a SAO model full size. No decker, and has a thumb safety. I really wish Hogue had them in rubber with finger grooves. That's what I really want, and P220 grips won't fit. I might take a dremel tool to plastic, but I'm not hacking on a set of rubber grips---just yet.

Thanks for the info guys! Think I'll check with TopGun tomorrow and get their parts list for what I need for the conversion and place an order.
