Third generation----well that's when you have a 1st gen. and change out things like the barrel from a 2nd gen. when you combine a 1st +2nd you get 3rd.

Mines got a "black slide" (i'm colorblind),so I assume its "blued". I don't like chrome finishes. Too "flashy" for a CONCEALED peice, and besides in a SD sitatution, the glare could give you away easier (or the position of your weapon,a glint from hard chrome,...)

I am looking for a IWB holster for a Kel-tec 3AT and have run into some trouble. Don Hume makes one I like but I don't know if my 3AT is a first or second generation, what's the difference?

Here is a thread at ktog.org that will answer your question:

If you have a big hex head bold on the back of the slide it's a second generation. 1st gen didn't have the big bold holding in the extractor.

Odd, I thought there was a third generation, too, but I seem to find only first and second mentioned on their site. Maybe I'm thinking of S&W (I have one of their third generation pistols). The second generation P3AT apparently solved many of their problems with unreliability, though I would still look closely at the "fluff and buff" instructions.
"Fluff & Buff" = about 500 rounds downrange.
