Alfack, when I got mine it was only a few weeks but I think his business has improved since then, so my best answer will be to ask them. Jess is a real personable, great guy to work with.

My turn times on the bobtails depends on the amount of work on top of the bobtail. My most common "package" is the BobC.A.T. It is a match bushing, tightening, sight change, target crown, trigger work and grips cut to match the bobtail. I do all of my bobtails by hand, they all turn out just a bit different, because I want to make sure that the bob lines blend with the rest of the gun and they don't look just lopped off. I can do the aluminum frame guns no problems. Most of the ones I am doing right now are S&W Scandium. I can do a full package usually for less than the cost of an off the shelf semi-custom including the price of the gun depending on the work that is done. Best to contact me off list, let me know the particulars and then I can give you a time frame. Due to personal circumstances beyond my control, I have had to move the shop and my family and I am running about 6 months behind right now. I can fit in jobs between the full projects I have right now, it just depends on how much work you want done.

JD's right. I wasn't looking for a Bobtail. What I really wanted was a commander barrel and slide on an officer's frame.
Nighthawk REALLY had my eye but when JD found Wilson we got a deal on it we just couldn't pass up. It is wonderful though. I don't think I could ever get rid of it unless I was starving and had to sell it to feed my family and even then I'd cry for years. The thing that really won me over was how well it shoots. After moving from such a light aluminum framed Kimber that had more recoil than I could comfortably shoot hundreds of rounds with I was wondering how I was going to like this .45. It had my heart in the first 100 rounds. It was so comfortable and so smooth and the action was nice and slow due to the heavy recoil spring and the recoil was easily absorbed by the weight and the heavy bull barrel does help keep the gun even and muzzle-flip free. I LOVE my Wilson and they have mad props for their work on such a good firearm. It shoots so wonderfully and comfortably and conceals beautifully for being such a big/heavy gun. One day when I'm rich an famous I will get a Nighthawk and my dreams will be complete but I have nothing against Ed Brown or Dan Wesson or any of the other custom builders. Although Ed Brown does make some very pretty stuff. I've never shot any but they sure are pretty to look at..lol

My only 1911 is a Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail. It is an 05 and I bought it used (Barely used). It developed a cracked barrel bushing which I had fixed. From my understanding, Dan Wesson has fixed that problem.
After I got the right crimp on my reloads, it has been a very reliable gun. I have more than 1K rounds through it now A very good gun for entering the field of 1911's Dan Wesson also has a great customer service reputation should any problems arise. If you purchase one, I think you'll be pleased with your decision. Stay safe

If I were to buy a current model bobber, it would be from Fusion Firearms, hands down. They are full house custom guns at low end, semi-custom prices. Jump now, because I guarantee that in the forseeable future, they will double. And well they should.
Otherwise, I'd take a pre-CZ CBOB, or perhaps a used EB. The orginal DW's were pretty much custom guns.

My prices for complete guns is near this price but lower. If the gun is supplied, I can do a complete bobtail workover for less than $500. For example, I did a complete stainless Caspian Commander bobtail in 9X23 with ALL of the bells and whistles. Price out the door was a tick over $2000. I started out as a working mans gunsmith and will hold the line on pricing just as long as the doors are open. The nice thing is that you have a LOT of options right now for a bobtail and they are all good choices. I am just doing my own version. The CBOB is good, the Ed Browns are excellent, and from what I have seen on the internet, there are a lot of people that offer this option. It is about the coolest 1911 mod going right now.
