I have 2 M&P's. One full size and one compact. I have carried and shot the fullsize extensively. NO problems at all. I just bought the compact recently, and am very impressed with the finish and operation of the entire gun. I'm sorry to hear and see some of the problems people are having with them.

Many cars have stainless exhausts and they do have corrosion. I have 2 m&p's with no issues. S&W is supposed to have a great customer service dept let them make it right. Please let us know if they do, or if it's just lip service.

By the way, some schedules (types) of stainless steel will attract a magnet, some will not, it depends on the alloy. There is no hard and fast correlation between magnetic properties and rust resistance, either.

Called S&W customer service yesterday and spoke to Joe. Joe had a hard time understanding me because I'm Southern. Joe is sending me a pre-paid mailer to send the entire pistol back to S&W. Joe seemed like this is not the first time he has heard of this problem. Joe became flustered when I asked him if he had any other identification, such as a CSR number or an extension, "No, I'm... Joe!" I wonder if S&W's QC department arrives on the short bus with the CS department?

I have seen that side of S&W CS, but you hear good things about them, but not from me! The short bus

AutoFan is correct here. A magnet is not always a sure bet for verifying SS. I work in the Quality Dept at the company I am at. We do use a magnet as aa quick and dirty test, but some SS's do have magnetic properties.

I would give "Joe" a chance to do you right and hope that he does not see this thread. I have heard of one guy that sent his M&P in for a mag drop issue. When he got it back from S&W, the mag drop issue was fixed AND S&W installed night sight's for free. I am sure that they will take care of you here, but if "Joe" were to read this thread...

Sure, thing, "Ron". j/k

BTW, I already had night sights. I don't think they can do much to make it "more than right" other than replace the slide for me unless they throw in four mags or a M&P45C. If I get it back without my trijs, then I'm going to get angry...

I only want my pistol back shooting the same tight groups it already was but with a stainless slide that doesn't rust.

Juggernaut, this is the M&P I was referring to. Pretty tough to beat that CS!! I wonder if "Joe" helped him out?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying their customer service department isn't helpful (shoot, I'd have the pleasure of paying to send a pistol back and forth to Beretta), just the execution is off. Although, another rep told me I could send in my classic carry promo and S&W would honor it even though I had bought the pistol three days after the promo ended. I took an hour to drive to the post office and back (not to mention the gas costs and the costs to our environment), buy a stamped envelope and mail it only to get it back three weeks later with a form letter saying "We could not process your request for the Classic Carry promotion because:"
and the checkbox next to "Other:" was checked with "Sorry." handwritten next to it.

I don't doubt they're going to fix this.
