The 1911A1 had and arched mainspring housing and taller sights, rather than the "bump and hump" of the M1911. The A1 also sported a short trigger. Parking wasn't real popular on the M1911, but standard on the A1. There are a few other esoteric differences, which I am certain OD will jump me for, but that's it in a nutshell. Great gun. Good Ping, very good.
Only one point, the 91A1s don't have high-cut front strap though (and they are Series 80s).
