Snubby Action Job

Anybody had the Smith action job? They describe it as 20% lighter trigger mainspring. Anybody notice a difference when the gun came back?

I had a local gunsmith do an action job on two S&W snubbies, which included a new spring kit. $42 each. The outcome was a modest reduction in weight, but a great improvement in terms of smoothing it out.

It's not rocket science, so having a local smith do it would be adequate and I'd guess cheaper if you're comparing it to a factory job.

My smith insists on leaving the spring alone on a Centennial frame, but worked over the internals and dropped my trigger pull considerably. It also eliminated that "crunch" as the cylinder rotates.

had a factory trigger/action job done in the early 1980s to a S&W mdl 13 (4" hvy bbl blue square butt .357 K frame... )

WOW!! what a difference - (I was not this service as I was out of warranty (by a couple of weeks) and had a chamber on the cylinder go bad) was only expecting to get it back with a new cylinder - and a bill...

they sent it through the custom shop it was timed, tuned and smooth as silk and broke like glass DA after

they did not send this young (at the time) Army NCO a bill either, and they paid the freight both ways!!

I recently had a local gunsmith work on my 638. I understand he doesn't like to change the spring (as stated above), but instead just smoothes everything up inside. It is considerably better than before and seems to have a lighter trigger pull. It was more than worth the $40.00 it cost.
