Update #546,781

I got my return box on 7/28, and UPS picked it up on 7/29. Tracking shows Ruger got it back as of this morning (7/30).

I finally got my recall box.

They should be picking it up today.

There's a form you have to fill out with your name, address and serial number. I also wrote on that form all of the problems I had with the SR9 (misfeeds, striker indicator fell out, trigger sticks).

That thing better work perfectly when I get it back!

EDIT: They picked it up about two hours ago. I'll let you know when I get it back.

It's baaaaack...

My SR9 has finally come home.

Few things:
  1. Trigger pull is a bit heavier, I think. No gauge to measure. Not horribly so, unless you're a tuned-1911 snob
  2. Pull distance and reset are MUCH shorter. I was happy with them before, but they're even better now. Reset is very positive.
  3. My slide was replaced due to something I had them look at. The cuts on the inside of the slide are a bit different than I remember. Couple of minor casting imperfections, but not on any mating surface. The fit to the frame seems to be much tighter. I like.
  4. Mag disconnect spring seems a bit stiffer. Sucker still came right out, and is resting in the gun's case, where it belongs.
  5. Unless I REALLY fixate on it, the trigger-safety-blade-thing isn't really bothering me at all. I hardly notice it.
  6. Supposedly, the striker assembly is different, but it looks the same to me. Maybe a little cleaner
  7. Free hat. Kinda cheap. Black ball cap, with red and white embroidering, saying "The Ruger SR9". The free IDPA hat was nicer. But hey...free hat.
  8. Free mag! Most excellent. And I'm not stuck with one of those silly 10-rounders, either.
  9. I swear the new slide is a little bit lighter in weight.

I'll be dryfiring the hell out of this thing for a bit. Not sure when I'll be able to get to the range to put some live rounds through, but hopefully, soon. For now, I'm going to enjoy the weight that's been missing from my hip for far too long.

I got no decal, nor did I get an updated parts list that I thought I saw someone report with their returned SR9.

I ran into a different issue: my striker broke. The tab that connects to the sear on the trigger bar snapped right off:

This happened this past Saturday, when Ruger's customer service was closed. I called as soon as they opened this morning (as well as e-mailing them on Saturday) and requested a new striker overnighted to me. The rep who answered the phone couldn't do it, and said a supervisor would have to return my call. I eventually did get a call back, but by that time, it was too late to send it out via UPS. They are to send it tomorrow via overnight shipping.

They're also supposed to send a return envelope so they can get the broken striker back to see what happened.

What really sucks is I never got to put live rounds through it after getting it back form recall work.

^^^ Jeez, that sucks man.

They tried to deliver mine yesterday but I wasn't home.

EDIT: Just got mine back. I love the new trigger. Feels great.

I'll post about how it shoots once I get to the range.

Took my Retrofitted SR9 out today for a test run. Ran different ammo including reloads. The trigger is fine by me, I actually think I like the new one better. Need to adjust my sights a little and shoot more often. Anyway I think that it is good to go. iF the gun survives a second round and more reloads she will be my EDC Gun.
