that's my point--sometimes its more than enough, USUALLY its more than enough--but sometimes it isn't. and if a little squirrel can beat the odds, then the chances of a much larger, much angrier human are much greater for staying on his feet after a tiny .22 to the chest.

I would not carry a .22 as a defensive firearm.
My concern (aside from the ballistics issue) is with the reliability and quality control of .22 ammo. Even with "good" ammo (Stingers and such) I've had more "dud" rounds than with the cheap ammo in other calibers. If you have a superior weapon, carry it.
