If you do not have a BUG, I would purchase one.

Not always used as a BUG, it can also fill in as a primary when going unarmed would be your only other option due to size. ie., while wearing a speedo!

You won't shoot a bug as much. But you will carry it. And you will carry when you wouldn't carry anything else. I'd start there. And that Kahr looks really interesting. I have read some great things about the Ruger as well.

made my decision

Decision made: Today I brought home a parkerized P3AT. It was quite a saga! I'm happy, but slightly disappointed at not getting to shoot yet. Still, depending on how much I'm able to put away this month, I may still go for a holster for the 9....

So here's the KT saga:

First, I drove 30 miles to buy the gun after seeing it on the shop's website and calling to confirm/hold the gun. The salesboy tried to charge me $35 more than the advertised price, saying that the website clearly states that the listed price does not include shipping, and all guns have to ship overnight by law...

Wait a minute, whose shipping?? I was making an over-the-counter purchase. So he took $15 off after much ado.

Even though they didn't have the correct model clip for it, I was just happy to be walking out with the elusive gun I had been resisting for about a year, and in a parkerized finish no less So I took it home, cleaned and oiled it, and racked the slide a bunch. I was surprised to find that it is not nearly as stiff as most p380's I have handled- hope that's a good thing, not a sign of bad things to come.

Then, on the way to the range (20 miles in the opposite direction from my house), I stopped at wally world to pick up some 9mm ammo to shoot my primary gun while I was there- and was informed that they had been out of all 9 mm ammo for 4 weeks, with no shipment in sight, all the Walmarts in the nation are supposedly out, and "they just aren't making it right now."

What? no 9mm? ok, the same employee was on the phone when I walked up, asking what a semi-auto was in order to explain it to another customer. So I took this inside info that she proudly shared with me with a heaping pound of salt, and proceeded to the range to just break in the new gun.

Range closed 3 minutes prior to my arrival due to a CWP class.

Edit:

I just read your last post. Man, what a day. All that driving just to get charged $20 more on a gun, no 9mm ammo and a closed range. Take tomorrow off!

Congrats! Enjoy it. An Uncle Mike #4 pocket holster, with a little L-shape bit of packing foam wrapped in electrical tape, will make it print like a spare wallet or notebook. If you go with the metal clip carry, be careful. Up in Jax they had a fellow surprise everyone outside church when his granddaughter blew a hole through his Sunday best. No one shot, thank God!

Wow, that sounds awful! Don't worry, I use the clip in conjunction with a pocket holster to protect the trigger. It just helps keep the whole shebang in place :)
