Taurus Model 85SS2UL
I am looking for a review. I just bought a Taurus Model 85SS2UL. Does anyone have one. I have been wanting a snubby .38. I got this one for about $315.00. How does it shoot? Can you find a holster for it? Have you tried +P ammunition with it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. After I shoot this weekend I'll provide some additional info. Thanks.

I have a whole new respect for the Taurus models. I recently acquired a PT 1911 and love it. I be watching for your report.

I have the 85 SS Ultra-Lite and love it. Mine is the hammerless model. It is great for pocket carry although I sometimes wear it as a BUG in a ankle holster. Otherwise, it spends a lot of time under my pillow.
I have tested +P's in it and they shoot fine. I would not recommend a full diet of +P's in such a lightweight pistol. Practice with .38 and carry +P's. I think Taurus Mod 85's are a great value for the money. Sure, they are not S&W or Colt.......but you are not paying the price either. Any holster for a 2" J frame will fit the Taurus 85. Have fun! |

I do not have the SS model but do have the 85UL with Crimson Trace laser grips. The gun shoot very well for a snubby. I have put 100 rounds of standard 38s through it and 10 rounds of +Ps. I practice with the standard load and carry the +P for defensive use. The trigger is not bad, I have been dry firing it with snap caps, which does seem to make the trigger better. The gun seems well made and the finish/fit is nice. Taurus has come along way in the past few years, as this makes my 3rd Taurus, I also have a PT1911 and little SS 8-shot 22lr snubby, all have been great so far. Hope this helps.

I've carried the same model for 3yrs , the only problem I've ever had is the screw below the cylinder on the right side of the frame , backs out after shooting it .
