Well, I am sorry to disappoint everyone, but I have decided to go with my XD40 for now (yes, the gun I already own).
Let me explain why. The Springfield XD9SC voters made excellent points. There's more gear available for less money, the bugs have been worked out of the gun (most of 'em), etc. The PPS voters also made good points. It's more compact (about 1/2-inch narrower than almost any XDSC), easy shootability, etc. I was still a bit stuck to be honest with you. But I realized that I made a critical error in trying to figure out which gun to buy. I was trying to make a decision about which gun to purchase based almost solely on hard data gleaned from the manufactuers and on the opinion of others. This was a rookie mistake. Instead, I am going to begin carrying my XD40 as much as I feel comfortable with and then decide from there what I like, don't like about my XD40. For example, if I know I hate the weight, a lighter pistol is worth it. If I don't mind the barrel length, then a 3" barrel will not be a feature I have to pay extra for. Thanks again, everyone for all your help & I hope that others considering either the PPS or XDSCs find this thread helpful. |

>>I got my PPS FE ser# PPS097 back today! This time the repair sheet says "Repaired: Replace Spring". My hopes soared as I thought they had a replacement part to correct the problem. I fired 16 rounds of Winchester 147 gr JHP (USA9JHP2) through it. THE SLIDE LOCKED BACK AGAIN!!! Called S&W. Off it goes again. This will be its third trip back to S&W. It has yet to be fired that it hasn't had to be returned to S&W. |

I nixed the Walther...the last one I had to be melted down and remade by the manufacturer...same serial # with a letter of fact from the company...sold it as new when I got it back...NO MORE Walther's for me! Not the same quality as years ago...OMO
