Steyr
I bought a Steyr M9A1 a couple of years ago. It had a lot of problems with FTF FTE. I was very upset about it. I sent it in to Steyr in the U.S. and they replaced the extractor. This gun has been flawless ever since. It is one of my favorite shooters.
I would expect a problem with any new gun,the LCP would not be any different. If there is a problem, I have know doult that Ruger would take care of it. In the mean time, I will enjoy shooting and carrying it. ![]() |

I really appreciate the feedback on this website and members' comments, sharing of insights, experience(s), knowledge, skills. I guess I'm becoming cranky and irritable, a curmudgeon of sorts. Been around too long. My too-many ife-changing experiences have been rather dramatic - got the scars to show it. Fortunately, I relied on my weapons and they functioned as designed when most needed. And, yes, always had a backup plan, other resources. And you're all on target - you get what you pay for. Thank you for your comments -all of you!

You guys crack me up. There is four or five internet reports of a malfunction with the Elsie Pea and you guys and ready to condemn Ruger to hell and worse. There has always been and always will be problems with a percentage of firearms produced by any and every manufacturer. Look on the web for malfunctions with rugers wheel guns and you will find it just the same as you will with smith or any other.
For the record I do own the lcp and ruger wheel guns and haven't had problems with either. |

My comments are based solely on looking at and examining the above photograph of the broken part.
And there is no excuse for a critical firearm part breaking like that. I would consider that to be an inherent defect if the part is MIM. Any part failure that will result in an instantaneous catastrophic failure of the firearm on any self-defense handgun is a serious concern and folks should be made aware of the possibility of it happening at the worst possible moment. Catastrophic failure meaning that the part breaks and the firearm then instantly becomes totally useless as a life-saving defensive tool. My point being that if you have one and it's working great then superficially it's not a problem but, really thinking about it...you'll never really know if yours is going to break exactly like that right when you need it most. So if the part is MIM then Ruger needs to (at the very least) investment cast that part and make that replacement part available to the owners who want that particular part replaced. Just my personal opinion on that. Honestly...I would not buy one right now after looking at that photo.

You hit the nail on the head QKShooter, I sure hope that someone from the management staff at Ruger reads your post!

I sure hope that somebody from Ruger returns my call.
Now...THAT ticks me off. I'll call them again on Monday.

![]() Then after a few more mags, the take down pin broke. Gun still worked, but could possibly have jammed if the part moved wrong. ![]() |

Ok Rusty, I'll bite.
We have all seen your photo's at least a half dozen times on this forum, so what is your point? ![]() Did Ruger copy a bad design (although this is a different pistol)? Should Kel Tec have better quality control (off topic)? Should Ruger have better quality control on the LCP than Kel Tec has on the PF9 (Again off topic)? Are you saying Kel Tec won't fix your PF9, or did you sell it because it's a POS and can't trust it with your life. I'll tell you what, I will buy yours(although I don't see a need for one) if it will stop you pasting the exact same pictures and comments You feel the need to post, post, and post again. PM me with price. (No real reason for this, but it makes me laugh.)

I was reinforcing QKShooters point of critical gun parts SHOULD NOT FAIL for any reason. Yet they do with the cheap parts some of the manufacturers are throwing in. The KT post is applicable since the LCP is pretty much a carbon copy of the P3AT. My hammer spring was with the PF, but the P3 and LCP use similar systems AND there are reports of P3 springs breaking as well, even just setting in pockets, not even fired! So LCP owners beware. Public service rant over.
Plus, maybe everyone didn't see the first 6 posts of my pics! ![]() |
