Well, back in 1970 the parent company of Smith & Wesson purchased 54 % of the stock in Taurus, and thereby both companies freely shared designs and information. Later in 1980 it was full bought out by it's present day owner, severing ties with S&W.
In 1980, Italian manufacturer, Beretta had completed it's manufacturing of pistols for the Brazilian Government and sold the Sao Paulo manufacturing plant along with the tooling, technical drawings, and work force to Taurus Arms. So it may be no wonder if some Taurus pistols look like clones of Beretta, as well as Smith & Wesson. cite: Taurus (manufacturer) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

+1,000.
You hear lots of accolades for the Bersa and I love mine. I've never heard anything about a Taurus .380

+1 I've never had a Bersa, but I've heard many good things about them. I don't believe I've ever heard anything good about a Taurus. But if we're throwing out other .380 options, I really love the Sig 232 I bought for my wife. They're usually a bit more expensive than the Taurus, but I got an amazing deal on it. I would recommend a 232 to anyone.

I'd pass on the Taurus.
I made the mistake once, won't do it again. |
