Taurus makes several .380 models now and made older, out of production, models too. Did it look like a Kahr or more like a Beretta? The older PT58 models are known to be excellent guns, clones of the famed Beretta 81 series.

Does it look anything like this? If so, unless it was a very good price, I'd pass. Not because I have any particular thing against Taurus, just that as others have said, the MilPro is virtually the same size and weight whether it's 380, 9mm or 40 so if it was anywhere close to new price, I'd opt for one in a larger caliber.

+1! Just bought my first Bersa Thunder. So far, so good. Very concealable and accurate.

In my June issue of "Gun Tests" they rate a Taurus PT-138BP-12 and give it a grade of "D". The reasons listed were sight problems and "nagging malfunctions". I have not owned one personally and could not vouch for their reliability. You might want to look up the Gun Test periodical for their review.

Taurus Model PT938C

The Taurus actually looks "exactly" like this:

I went back this afternoon just a few mintues ago and took pictures. The gun store is only about 4 miles from where I live.

Price on it was $325.00 . From pictures I've seen on the internet of the Bersa Thunder .380, I think I would prefer it over the Taurus for it's styling not dissimilar to the Walther PPK/S. Although, the Taurus seems like a nice feeling little pistol.

I also noticed that at Bud's Gun shop, doing a search this particular pistol is out of stock and last "sold" price was $479.

Walther PPK/S - around 499.

Love mine.

Darth, went to your linked site - if you like Didg, you probably like Steve Roach? Love his stuff...

That's a more modern and compact version of the PT58 shown here,
GunBroker.com guns: TAURUS PT58s .380 a.c.p.LNIB with papers (item: 103058128 ends: Jul-07-08 02:47:32 PM)

$325 is probably a good price but it's a little hard to tell as you don't see many of them.

And right they should since they are using Beretta tooling. I found out from a pretty reliable source that Taurus bought Beretta tooling and designs. My source, Todd, was telling me that the model 92 and 99 were actually better than the Beretta, as they had features the Beretta did not have.
