I agree, it's too small. I have thought about buying a new part, the safety lever and welding onto it and then grinding back to an acceptable "tab" that would be more user friendly for disengaging the safety. Many at the Bersa Talk forums simply take it off safe and bring the hammer back to the first 'click', when carrying.

I can't help you with the disconnect - I feel the same way about it - one more thing to go wrong and it often does. But the safety (decocker) can probably be loosened-up by just working it on and off a few hundred times. This can be a relaxing stress-reliever while watching a ball game on TV. Then apply some oil and work it some more. Mine loosened up nicely, and the gun is much easier to handle safely when the lever works like it should.

If you bought the gun new, another option is to ship it to the warranty center in Colorado and a fellow named Royce can fix it for you. Look on the Bersa Talk board for details and contact info.

Having said all of this, it is one of the most accurate handguns I have in my collection, bar none.
One suggestion on the safety lever is to disassemble the gun, take the safety lever out and take some fine grit sandpaper and round off the tip of the safety lever where it fits into the socket. Then smooth off the edges of the socket so that there is not that sharp machined edge to where the tit on the safety lever rests.

I did this right after I got mine and now it is almost as easy to take on and off safety as my 1911.

If you search the Bersa forums there is a writeup on it.

My Bersa has proven to be a reliable and good shooting gun.

I recently saw a bunch of these for sale at a gun show and have been seriously considering one for a back-up gun. I think you all made me think it would be a wise decsion!

I had one, never had any problems with it....but, it is kind of big for a 380 in my opinion.

We got my wife a Bersa Thunder awhile back. Have about 600 rounds through her and she shoots fine. No failures of any kind. When I first looked at it at the shop I was impressed with the fit and finish as well as the design. My guess is that the fixed barrel aids accuracy some. It is a very accurate gun and fun to shoot. Have read several reviews that say it is superior to the Walter PPK that it resembles (copied?). Normally I carry an XD.45 compact but I have carried the Bersa and in no way did I feel naked. IMO it is a great lil gun that is highly under rated. You may also want to consider a Stoeger Cougar at around $400 the exact same gun that Beretta sold for twice as much. The gun the Storm is based on.
