I did like the grip safety though but I favor .45s so that may have had something to do with it. I've never held a M&P so can't comment on it. I have no regret in going from the XD to the Glock. Joe |

Not enough experience to compare. However, the M&P design gets the hand very close to the barrel to minimize the torque. I've had long sessions (150-200 rounds) without hand discomfort. Flip is manageable for me. You'll have to try it to see how it works for you.

Nope, no recalls that I've heard of. The slide finish on the older models wasn't the greatest, but they took care of that a long time ago.

No grip safety on M&P.

So basically, between the XD and the M&P, it comes down to: How it feels in my hand. And the price. Right? |

Oh, so there is no "safety" on it then. Just the trigger, not being pulled. That's good to know. Do you carry it with a round already in the chamber?

A passive trigger safety prevents the weapon from firing unless the trigger is fully depressed preventing discharge even if the weapon is dropped

I've got the XD which has the grip safety. That was one of the things that helped my decision. The long trigger pull on a revolver is fine with me, but I'm not a fan of the Glock theory of just using the trigger as a safety.
