1911's (EMP) carry..... questions
Ok... I'm more accustomed to revolvers and other semi-autos. But, I now have a EMP. I love the gun, it's accuracy is great, easy to carry, etc.
I've been debating with myself the best and safest way to carry. I always carry one in the chamber, so that's a given. I would like to get some opinions, experiences, etc. from you that carry 1911's. 1) cocked and safety engaged. 2) 1/2 cocked & no safety. |

Check your manual. 1911's usually recommend against 1/2 cock loaded. Not safe. I have no specific experience with an EMP, though.

C'N'L or nothing. No way I would risk slipping off the hammer or wanting to take the time to cock it before use , especially in a bad situation. as said here countless times, try carrying it empty chamber C'N'L around the house till you get comfortable with it and realize it will not "just go off".

Cocked n' locked. I carry a mustang this way, either in a back pocket holster or front pocket holster.
Its completely safe....unless you have a habit of playing with the safety when your hands are in your pockets. ![]()

For me the weapon is no good unless it's cocked & locked.

It's basically a compact 1911 only in 9mm. Cocked and locked as it was designed to be carried.

you may have already carried C&L
I see you're a fellow Kansan, so maybe you've had the pleasure of quail or pheasant hunting. If you've walked upland game with anything but a single shot, you likely carried cocked and locked, and without a quality hunk of leather to guard the trigger from accidental snagging.

One in the tube, hammer back, safety on, holstered. How it was designed to be carried, and how I feel most comfortable with.
JMB did a wonderful job designing this thing. The original prototypes were over a hundred years ago, but the final version as adopted by the military (which, as I understand it, included a few features JMB disagreed with, such as the grip safety) wasn't designed until a bit later, around 1907 IIRC. The fact that so many people trust their lives to it today is a real testimonial to JMB's design. There's a great history of the M1911 on Wikipedia: M1911 pistol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Keep it condition 1 ![]() Peace, Pete Zaria.
