I was planning on making a similar thread, glad I found this one.
I am kind of turned off by the weight, and hadnt even pondered the added bulge of the cylinder..but something about them makes me want to carry a 686 or similar 2.5"-3" .357 Ill stick with my XD9 for now... |

I carry a .38 spl 642 every time I leave the house. There's a few of us out here, just not many. For .357 I'd choose either the M60 or 640 for the added weight and recoil absorbtion.
As most have said, the only real downsides to revolvers are less capacity and slower reloads - the J-frames really aren't hard to conceal at all, my usual carry holster is an Alessi IWB with one speedstrip in a belt pouch or a speedloader in the jacket pocket. If nothing else, it'd give you the option for pocket carry when a full size auto might not be practical. Go on and buy one, you know you want to! ![]() Jack |

I love my snubby's. I have two of them. They are Rugers' SP101 .357 and a Taurus 85 .38
---- the warmer it gets the less I wear (******* mental pic, I know ! LOL...) and thats when I can slip the taurus in a front pocket. If I go fishing (we have a big reservoir here), thats what I take. The ruger gets carried at my leisure. Especially when the boys wanna shoot magnums. Even though its an expensive toy, the CT lasergrips impress and wow them every time. |

Hello. Yes, much of the time my carry gun is a revolver or a couple of them. My 24/7 gun remains a Model 642 loaded with Remington 158-gr. LSWCHP +P but when it assumes the BUG role, the belt gun is frequently this SP101, now loaded with Corbon 125-gr. DPX +P. The one speedloader I carry is loaded with the same .38 +P ammo I use in the S&W and works in either revolver.

I like my S&W 696 5 shot 44 spc or my S&W 624 6 shot 44 spc I also have a S&W 629 that I will carry in the woods with magnums or specials on the street. My S&W 610 with 10mm gets the call sometimes and a 642 as a BUG.
In the summer the big wheelies will not get the call as often because I don't like the heat so I change my carry when the weather gets hot. Usually go with a Sig in the hot weather. Oh and at 6'2" 230lbs I can easily conceal a large handgun or small shotgun/rifle. So carrying a wheelie may also depend on your size, how much weight you don't mind toting, your equipment and mode of dress. -Scott- |

In the summertime, I'll carry my S&W 640.

642 all the time in my pocket. I have no problems with the wheel showing. I keep it in a pocket holster.
