Charles Daly 1911 question

Was in a coin shop that also recently started selling guns.

Way down in the bottom of one case was a Charles Daly 1911 with what I believe were ivory grips... they were starting to yellow a bit. They wanted $450.

Since I was with the wife, and haven't planned to buy a 1911 for a while, I didn't really look at it... didn't even have them get it out of the case... and naturally didn't get a date off of it.

As I was walking away, it started to itch at the back of my mind. I wondered if they, being new to gun sales, knew what they have... if indeed they have anything at all.

I'm going back to look at it tomorrow. Besides a date, what should I look for?

I went to the Charles Daly website and read up on the history of the company a bit, but found nothing much about previous products.

Stay away from it...........Those guns are usually junk........
They've attempted to play up to theKimbers. The Pointman is a pretty decent gun but I'd find something else other than the Daly ..........save a few more bucks and buy a Springer, or similar

WOW!
Cheapest CD I've seen is about 525 and that's cheap for a .45 1911.
I'd buy a new one in a heartbeat for 300, just as a bang around gun.
I haven't even seen any used .45 acp for 300. Wish I could find some, especially a used .45 1911 for 300, if it were dependable I wouldn't care about bumps, scrathes etc.

PLEASE Tell me where?????

Funny

I Love This Review (as follows) Of The Chas Daly:
Make: Charles Daly Model: 1911 Action: Single Action Caliber: .45 ACP
Rating: *
Review: "I WENT TO THE RANGE WITH MY NEW 1911 CHARLES DALY, AND THE PEOPLE AT THE RANGE STARTED LAUGHING AT ME.
THEY BEAT ME DOWN TO THE FLOOR, AND MADE ME RUN AROUND RANGE FIRING 22 RIFLE LONGS AT MY BACK.
THEN THEY THREW MY GUN AT ME, AND SAID TAKE THAT JUNK OUT OF HERE BOY."

That about sums it all up.
Seriously, Here is handgunreview page of the Chas Daly 1911 Pistol by folks that actually bought one.

I have seen RIA 1911s at gun shows in Alabama for $339. You don't have to go to a gun show though. They were on the table of Tactical Supply in Montgomery. 866-850-0561

I have no relationship with Tactical Supply. I have bought two guns at very good prices from them.
