Cool Colt Gunsite CCO - couldn't help myself

Drove over to Gunsite Academy today. It's a little bit over an hour's drive from my home in Flagstaff. It seemed like a pretty big place, and the folks I met were friendly enough.

At the Gunsite Gunsmithy, I had a chance to look over the three Colt Gunsite offerings, as well as a S & W Gunsite pistol too.

I've been very happy with the Colt Mark IV / Series 70 Government Model I have, and thought I'd add the Gunsite CCO. It has the features I wanted in a concealed carry gun, and that's why I made the drive over to Paulden, AZ where Gunsite is located.

I won't set out the Gunsite CCO pistol's features, but they're located here: http://www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/Gunsite.asp . I also picked up a couple of Wilson Combat 7 round mags as the CCO model came with only the stock 6 round mags.

Here's a couple of photos I lifted from the internet. My camera skills aren't so great, and these pictures are what my gun looks like, though with a different serial number. I'll post a range report next week.

I like this one better. Smaller and easier to carry.. Just my two cents.

Info is here

I love the CCO concept: Commander sized slide/barrel and Officer's ACP (preferrably lightweight) frame.

That's why I love my Kimber CDP Compact so much.

IMO it's the perfect 1911 CCW platform.

The above Gunsite weapons don't have the features that I think are valuable to have in a CCW. My Kimber UC CDP II has them. Also,I don't like the idea of paying the extra prices for the Gunsite logo's.(same as Thunder Ranch) I realize that these are probably some fine weapons.....BUT....for the price ???

I own and compete with a Colt MKIV/70 also. I will never get rid of it,but for CC the little Kimber is what i feel that I need.-------
