I got this pistol home yesterday and it is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!! I think it can hold it's own with any Hi Dollar Custom Gun. It is as lovely as the pix show it. Jess' trigger job is as crisp as biting a carrot and his work on refining and polishing the crown shines like a new shiny dime. I have a Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail which was high in my regard but it can't hold a candle to this S&W Scandium Commander. I plan to test drive the pistol this afternoon and when it passes, it will become my #1 Carry Gun. Being scandium and Bobtailed, it carries and conceals better than my 3" Ultra Carry II. If anyone is considering a Bobtail or any other Gunsmithing, Jess Gypin at, On Target Custom Gunworks www.ontargetcgw.com , is the man!!!! THANK YOU JESS, I can sure strut now!!!

RANGE REPORT: I took her to the range today and put 100 rounds thru her flawlessly. I wish the shooter had done as well. In one of the forums someone wished me luck in maintaining my grip on the smooth Main Spring Housing. In 93 degree, humid Fla. heat I had absolutely NO problems. As a matter of fact I like the Bobtail better than the standard 1911 grip which tends to poke into the heel of my hand. THANKS AGAIN JESS and congrats on a GREAT job.

I know felt recoil is an individualized thing, but how does the scandium compare to a steel framed 1911? I am considering the SW1911SC, but I must admit that at times I don't enjoy shooting my Springer loaded.

Being lighter the Sc certainly provides more recoil but it's effect on me was insignifigant. I had to stop and think hard in order to write this response. 'Twas no big deal. Probably not as bad as my Ultra Carry II which is very tolerable to me.

When i had my SC and it ran right i thought it recoiled more than a 5" but not a whole lot see my AV <---- and the one in the right hand two handed shooting is the sc in full recoil i think theres a bigger one in the gallery

I'd like to get my 1911Sc bobtailed, but also want to keep the crimson trace laser grips. Would it be possible to modify the grips or put the laser, siwtch and battery into a different set of grips?

2 R, he just cut off approx the last 3/4 inch of the bottom rear of the grip and then contoured it to fit. I would think he should be able to do that on the CT's. Ask him, Jess Gypin at www.ontargetcgw.com .
