I ordered this post from Bumper Custom Threads almost 16 weeks ago and it was promised in 8 weeks. But since it is so detailed, well written and informative, I'm not going to complain about it.

I'm not at all sure what you're referencing, unless you were one of several (3 or 4) members that emailed or PM'd me regarding our initial decision to shut down the complaints until we could get something worked out, but no promises were made....

No problem. I figured it was, but sometimes it's hard to tell whether a post is a joke or something out of the Twilight Zone....

This Forum Is A Good Idea

When I look for a holster I want to know all I can about it.I placed an order for my first custom holster based on information on this site. The maker had posted pictures of his holsters on this site and they looked great.I was promised 12 weeks delivery on it.I waited over 8 months and asked for my money back.I based my choice of holster makers based on the delivery date I was promised and the quality of their work.If there had been posts on this forum about delivery problems people were having with this maker it would have saved me a lot of problems I had with this maker.I ordered a holster from Milt Sparks and was told up front it would be 20 to 22 weeks. They do not bill you untill holster is being made.I am not worried about getting ripped off with their way of doing buisness.

Could not agree with you more BruceGibson!!!!

Well I'm glad there is at least a chance for negative reviews to be heard. I know of other forums where no "gripes" can be posted, only glowing reports. It's like reading a gun rag.

Not posting about current problems with a custom holster maker is only good common sense for all parties involved. Having said that, there should be few restrictions on postings after the issue is resolved (i.e. no personal attacks or flaming).

Over my years of ccw , I have owned many holsters for many pistols , made by many folks/companys . I have never had an issue that was not resolved in a timely fashon be it safariland or alissi or anywhere in between . When i go to a shop i can buy a bianchi, safariland , hunter, or whateaver brand right now , plunk down the money and take it home . A custom holster is a bit different , it is hand made for ME thro conversation between ME and the Holstermaker . this takes time and costs a premium over the uncle mikes or hunter . If you buy enough hand made holsters there will be a screwup fixing this also takes time since the holstermaker cannot pull one off a shelf so to speak to send to you . If you want perfection in holsters then go custom maker . If there is a screwup , then be prepared to wait as long as your inital order for a fix since fine leathersmiths are rare and demand is high . They will do thier best to give you a perfect product , and as a rule do , but like airlines the crashes get the notice not the successes.
