I'm glad to hear this. Ive got 2 holsters ordered from 2 different makers based on info I got off this site. I heard no negative about either one of them. It just wouldnt be fair for me to not give a negative report ( after the fact ) so others can judge for themselves on ordering from them or not. Both places told me 8-10 weeks. Beware, the clock is ticking ..................just kidding.....

In early June of 2006 I ordered an OWB service grade holster for my Kahr P9, along with a belt and magazine carrier from Brommeland Gun Leather. I was quoted an estimated delivery time of about 2 months. I finally received it on June 6th 2007. During the 10 months between the estimated and actual delivery dates I contacted Gary Brommeland 3 times and each time I was told a (different) reason for the delay and that it would ship in a few weeks. In May 2007 I was surfing another gun forum and a poster there was happily showing pictures of his Brommeland holster products he had ordered 6 months ago! After confirming the information with the poster, I sent an e-mail to Brommeland Gun Leather instructing them to send the belt that was done (according to their last reply 2 months prior) and cancelling the rest of my order. In return I got a somewhat hostile e-mail from Gary stating that my holster and mag carrier were drying (what a coincidence!) and he could not eat the cost of the holster and mag carrier. We agreed that should the entire order not ship on Friday of that week, I would get a full refund. My order did ship on Friday of that week, and after a missed delivery by USPS, I received my complete order last week. The belt was the condition you expect a newly purchased belt to be, but the holster and mag carrier were still in the condition I would call damp - like just polished shoes. The quality of the work is good, but not up to the level of "it was worth the wait". The Mitch Rosen holster I purchased in the interim had just as good quality and delivered ahead of schedule.

I also bought sights from Brommeland Gun Leather during this past year, and again, I had to call them when someone posted about getting theirs and a couple of weeks had passed before I saw the post here. The delay was not Brommeland's fault, but they collect your contact information (name, address, phone number and e-mail) at the time you order and charge your credit card up front. They could easily do an e-mailing with an FYI when there are issues (instead of having to read this forum to find them out), or give you the option to cancel when delays run into months. I would give them a B+ on the quality of product, and a D- on customer service.

I understand Gary has had some problems this last year, and took those into account before I tried to cancel my order.

I think this thread is a good idea.

While I won't post this as a review of a specific vendor, I will offer it as my 2 cents to all vendors.

I ordered a custom holster, was given a long time frame, by my standards, 2 months. Was very new to this, so was not aware of the lead times that most of you have experienced.

As I checked around some, found there were much longer times, and this vendor had a great rep on this forum. So I ordered one.

My problem came when I started looking for the holster when the time frame came. "It will go out this week/next week/Monday/etc."
Called every couple of weeks, and what I got was some variation of the above.

Finally received it, much later. I was very pleased with the quality of the product. Unfortunately, still had 2 more items on order.

Same process starts again, but goes on longer. To the point I finally gave up.

My point is not so much the delays, but the expectation. I fully understand things happen to create delays. But when it becomes the norm, you have to find a way to give your customer a more reasonable expectation. My own experiences have put me in the shoes of both the customer and the vendor, and I think most people will go a long way to cut you some slack, if they think they are getting the straight story.

I know I'm not alone in my experience with this vendor. Had I been told a time frame that matched with both what I had experienced, and what I saw and heard that others were experiencing, I believe I would have not been so frustrated and have given up.

My 2 cents.

Ditto. I started to respond to this earlier this morning and decided to wait until the mail ran and to my HUGE surprise, one of my holsters was actually delivered after 18 weeks ( 6 weeks late ). I made a phone call about the holster a month ago and they said "it will ship a week from Monday". Didn't happen, not even close..
I've got holsters from 3 different makers ordered and so far , none of them have delivered in the time posted. All anyone could ask is to know upfront how long it's going to take to get the product. For the past 2 weeks, everytime I checked the mail ,my frustration grew.
I called one of the holster makers today and asked about the stat on my order ( It's now 3 weeks over due ) and they said " We've got behind, it's going to be next week". I told her " Thats what I've heard from every holster maker", she laughed and I hung up.
I don't know what it is, but they all tell you what you want to hear, knowing it aint gonna happen.
I am totally happy with the holster I recieved today. It's my first leather holster and I needed it BAD. The quality is superb, it's comfortable and have zero complaints about the holster. But the quality of the product is not the only issue in a business.
I hope these holsters lasts a LONG time because I dread the day I have to order another one.

I ordered two custom holsters from a well known leather maker,
I was told 10 to 12 week backlog.
I waited 13 weeks and sent a e-mail to see how the order was going.
They already took full payment for the holsters ,
They apologized and now there saying it will be another 4-5 weeks . They want to know what would you like me to do? .
I just want them to be upfront when I ordered 3 months ago.
I'am going to wait it out maybe I'll get it by my birthday in Sept.

OK, I might as well finish this once and for all. Yes, we are behind. No, we didn't do it on purpose. We had no control over the circumstances that caused it. Use your heads - would I go out of my way to destroy a reputation that I've spent nearly 24 years building? Of course not.

Someone does have control over how long it will take to resolve our backlog, and it is YOU, my customers. We cannot deal with dozens and dozens of emails and phone calls each day asking "Is it done yet"? I've done everything that I know of to get ya'll to back off and let me work - I'm at a loss as to what it will take.

If you want a refund, ask for it and I'll be happy to cancel your order and drop a check in the mail. All other orders will be filled within the next 60-90 days. After that time, we will be selling holsters exclusively thru an online dealer. That way everyone will be receiving their holsters right away, and this bitchfest will hopefully end. If for some reason that does not work out, "plan B" is to sell holsters directly from stock. No orders will be taken, and no one will be charged for a holster until it ships. This also means that no custom work will be available. We will post a list of what is available and you can take it or leave it.

Autofan, all I will say is that I will happily do a weekly update eblast for all of my customers when you step up and volunteer to pay for it.

Sounds like a better way to run the business. After 2.5 decades you probably know what people want on a steady basis. You obviously make a great product with tremendous demand. Make all the standard holsters you can and sell 'em through one of the channels you mentioned.

When the newest whiz-bang carry gun comes out charge double for special orders away from your ready line.

One of our newest members seems to have a lot of sense. You have a great provider here, and he has a solution. By the way, welcome Catalina.
