I don't have either, but if I was looking at saving $$, I think I'd get the Wilderness belt or the leather/kydex Looper belt, depending on what I want.

That's where I got mine, had it in just a few days time. Being a diehard leather guy I was a little skeptical at first but I have to say I'm impressed with the performance, especially at that price range. As far as the $100+ gun belts being that much better than department store belts, as long as you buy from a reputable maker then yes, they're worth it. On top of the added support they offer, they also last many years longer then the cheap stuff so when you break it down to cost per year they're actually cheaper to wear.

While I haven't been able to try one yet, belts from http://www.thebeltman.net get rave reviews from pretty much everyone that buys one - and they tend to be on the lower side of custom leather prices. Bruce Gibson of http://www.gibsonprorodeo.com (and a member here) is also cranking out some really nice stuff at fairly affordable prices.

I tried ordering from them twice. Both times the merchandise was not in stock although advertised on their site. Gave up on them after that.

Be aware that while these Carhart belts are 1.5" wide, they are pretty thick where the leather tabs for the buckle join the belt itself. Try it on several pants before you decide.

I have some jeans that have 1.5" loops but the loops don't have enough slack for the tripple layer of material near the ends.

you gotta define "inexpensive" for yourself. I bought one of them Liger belt-lil bit of rubbish that one was to ME. Ordered a Rafter S, $50 and 5 wks waiting. This is by far, the best constructed belt I have (Hume, Galco, Wilderness, Beltman, Liger, Unc Mike's synthetic, Leather Creek) BUT its also very thick and may not fit some holster loops, like MS VMII, or Skyops.

I wear the Wilderness a lot because its comfortable and affordable. You may not need the Rafter's stiffness-depends on what you carry. I use the Rafter for P229R or USP-C 40.

Excellent advice so far. Nothing less than a dedicated gun belt will do.

Oh, but it is. As others have pointed out, you don't have to spend $100 for a belt, but if you buy one for $15.00, you'll be soooooorry!

I've been wearing one of the Blackhawk carbon fiber "dress" gun belts for about 6 months now, and have found it to be an excellent choice when you have to wear a dressier belt. Very rigid without being too thick, durable (so far), and looks pretty good (not as good as a really well made leather belt, but at half the price - or less - it's hard to complain). These run about $40. A possible alternative to the fine choices already offered, and since you're wearing a Blackhawk holster already...

+1 on Looper leather goods.

A lot of us here in Oklahoma wear them. They are two thicknesses of leather with a kydex insert sandwiched in between. They are about $29.
