Thanks again everyone,

I just went ahead and ordered another Split Decision. A very fine holster itself (I have 3 now) that should definitely keep me happy if I decide to wait on a Dakota Defender. Man, the holster pile is getting bigger everyday.

I think that a dirty holster, dirt/dust in a holster acts as an abrasive which will accelerate wear on your gun. Wiping out Kydex with a damp cloth or cleaning leather as per manufacturer's instructions once in awhile should help.

Personally, I don't worry about it. If you carry it, stuff will happen to it. If I ever have a gun I'm worried about scratching, I won't carry it.

Good advice. I'll keep my leather clean. I realize that eventually things are going to show some wear and get scuffed up. I'm just trying to delay/diminish it some.

Go with leather and the best that you can afford.

Have my G19 in a Comp-Tac MTAC with c-clips.
Leather backing is nice, but yes, the Kydex can wear the slide finish.
It was worn already!

I have a Comp-Tac Kydex holster. It's quick to draw from but I think a leather holster would be more comfortable, especially as you break it in.

I recently picked up a new Glock 30sf and was looking for a good IWB holster I finally settled on the Comp-Tac Pro undercover. The holster is thin Kydex with a very strong belt clip and is very comfortable. The Glock 36sf is not an easy gun to hide but with the Comp-Tac I can do it with just jeans and a long tail shirt and best its only about $50 at Gunnersalley (and by the way the 30sf was a tack driver at the range)

Both leather and kydex wear a holster, though they do it differently. Kydex picks two or three spots, wears them fast and goes no farther. Leather wears everywhere, goes slowly, and never stops. Let each person decide if one is better than the other - I use both kydex and leather because each has it's place.

Kydex is lightning fast, thin and concealable. Weatherproof, waterproof, you can clean it with a scratch pad and can be stored in the mustiest of environments.

Leather is beautiful, luxurious, natural. Softer to the touch and nostalgic.

Each has it's place, it's beauty, it's purpose.

It's really just personal preference, but I like my synthetic blade-tech holsters. They're fast to draw from and it holds it in there good. It's comfortable enough.

I have noticed some of the black wearing off of my black gun though.
