I am a pretty low key person and my first rule of my Model of Force Continuum is that I and my loved ones go home at the end of the day. The thirty three years I spent on the job gave me the out look that when dealing with citizens, that if it can go wrong, it will go wrong, either on the street or in the court room, no matter how right you are.

I limit my intervention to the protection of myself, my family, my friends, innocent children and my country. It's kinda cold hearted, but that's just the way it is. Way too many lawyers out there and way too many folks who sit on juries who have no concept of reality or fairness. This is also the reason that I don't recommend that my son, son in laws or grand children ever join the US Military as it stands today.
So in the mean time, I'll just take two salt tablets and drive on.

Great Thread.

+ 1 - thanks Chris.

{confession time}

I've had my CCW since Feb, but I'm still a 'CC virgin' - why? I want to get more range time, dry-fire, and holster/unholster expierience as well as education so that I can bear the awesome responsibility of CC in a worthy, respectable, and SAFE manner. It's been a great and wonderful learning process for me, one that will be an on-going, life-long adventure that I look forward to.

One other reason: I bought a Beretta .32 for my 'first time' (although I have other, larger calibers), and seem to be having enough stovepiping problems that I wouldn't trust it with my life!

Hunting Coyotes
Reminds me of the old Saturday Night Live skit on "Who is mus macho?"

Seriously, no need to be macho...just remember that the goal is to protect you and your loved ones. Nothing more.

Just remind yourself every once in awhile that your carry firearm is like your fire extinquisher...your smoke alarm...your spare tire...you get the picture!
