This is a debate that's been had COUNTLESS times and it all boils down to what you personally believe is best for you. Contrary to common belief, wearing a pro gun T-shirt or having gun related stickers on your car/truck does not turn you into the target of first choice unless you're a gangbanger in the "hood" or in a war zone!
![]() I've talked with any number of LEO's over the years with decades of experience in studying criminals and to a man (and one woman), they all agree that your chances of being singled out by a criminal because you own a gun are literally nothing. There have been many studies ~ ABC's John Stossel did one a year or so ago at a prison about criminals and gun control ~ and EVERY SINGLE ONE said that unless you are being singled out personally for some reason (gang or drug related "hit", revenge, etc) criminals do not want to engage a person who may be armed when there are too many easy, unarmed victims to choose from. Why take a chance on getting shot if you can avoid it! ![]() As for "advertising" you own a weapon, the fact is it's MANY more times a deterrent than an invitation to most criminals. Criminals normally look for easy targets and/or those they feel will offer the least resistance. A person who carries/owns a gun is quite likely to use it if they feel threatened, making them neither easy or unlikely to resist an attack. I'm not suggesting you walk around wearing a shirt that say's I'm Packin', or "Ask me about my gun collection", but I'm not going to loose sleep over a gun club, Glock/Ruger/S&W or NRA sticker on my windshield. Personally, I don't like ANY bumper stickers on my vehicles as a general rule, period. However, I do have a few window stickers and don't care who knows they are there. It's all really a matter of common sense when you think about it. If you leave your guns in the open (your favorite shotgun in a gun rack in your P/U truck for example) where anyone can see them when you're not around or walk around town carrying a rifle over your shoulder, you're asking for trouble whether you have stickers or not. OTOH, I'm not too concerned about the NRA or East Texas Rifle and Gun Club stickers on my rear windshield turning me into a walking target either. ![]()

I personally don't have any bumper stickers, but here's a quote from a bumper sticker a few years back:
"Driver only carries $20 worth of ammo" This from the days of delivery drivers still having cash on them...nowadays $20 buys a whole lot less ammo.

I have had my favorite "TED KENNEDY'S CAR HAS KILLED MORE PEOPLE THAN MY GUN" on the rear window of my suburban for years. I like it nice and high so everyone can't help but see it. Never had a single problem and have had lots of "great sticker" comments.

I wouldn't put any bumper sticker on my truck unless the truck was 20 years old and rusted out.

I have my NRA life, AOPA, USPA stickers. I have a couple other ones from skydive dropzones, and I just recently scraped off an oval Batman logo and a Yoda sticker that had aged badly. I don't have any of the kitschy gun-slogan ones, but I would not rule them out, either. I kind of like that I work at a liberal bastion (a news organization) and have a proudly displayed black/red/gold NRA LIFE MEMBER sticker on my car. Haha, let 'em fret! ![]() |

I do not have any bumper stickers on my car but I'd put one on if I could find one of those Ted Kennedy's stickers. That is a great quote.
