Can a handgun fire when racking it?

Just wondering if you have ever heard of a gun going bang when cocking it..........without a trigger pull.

Sorry, thinking of the scene from Boondock Saints...

Just make sure your firing pin isn't sticking out of the hole, inspect your firing pin when cleaning. Stuff like that.

Get some soft snap caps with undamaged soft primers. Load the magazine, rack the slide. Check the snap cap, if the primer is obviously dented after racking the slide without pulling the trigger, then maybe the firing pin is badly placed or the firing pin snaps forward.

Rocco: I killed your cat, you druggie .
Donna: What? Why?
Rocco: I thought it would bring closure to our relationship.
