He didn't let the dogs get out again. Everyone has a temper but some lose it more easily more than others.

She is about 50 but has the maturity level of about an 8 year old. Do you want to leave an 8 year old with a gun and dogs digging up her flower bed?

I don't care if she couldn't hit the side of a barn from ten feet away. A right is a right and should not be infringed, especially on the premise that we MIGHT do something to abuse that right. That's like making people have to take a course in order to walk carefully so as not to accidentally trip someone else when walking in public.

"But... but... they might accidentally bump into an old lady and cause her to break her hip!"

Well, I say to bad, that can be settled in court later. That's the way it should work. Remember, innocent until proven guilty.

It's her right so I really am not entitled to an opinion on it. Should she get more practice training? Of course she should as should we all. But the fact that she is an American citizen is all the should ever be required of her to obtain a gun and carry it as she sees fit.

Why didn't you think of being a new friend to her? Say, at least call and see how thing's are going. I know that would be bugging me for a long time.

SIXTO We need more instructors like you. I would like to think that some of the feathers you "ruffled " ended up saving one or someone's loved on their lives.

There are people that no matter what training is available should not be carrying. My mother is one of them. When she was younger my father tried to teach her how to protect herself with a single shot 410 at home. He was a fireman and worked 24 then off 24. The first thing he asked her after she watched him load it was to check if it's loaded. She pointed the 410 at the ground between his legs and pulled the trigger. She blew a hole in the dirt and that was the end of him trying to teach her about guns. I tried many years later when I was 14 years old and she couldn't figure out which end of a 410 went in first. She just didn't take it seriously at all. She didn't want to learn and I believe there are folks out there like her. She was not dumb and in fact managed the lunch programs at several schools In Colorado Springs that had programs in trouble. In every case she within a year got them out of the red and into the black. She is now 84 years old with Alzheimer's and she was lucky that she never needed to protect herself. I'm lucky my wife owned 6 guns before we got married and knew how to shoot and was a safe shooter. I taught my daughter from a young age and she is a great shot now and has never missed a deer. Now that being said when it comes to a person wanting a CCW I guess the instructor needs to be prepared to fail those with no aptitude for handling weapons. Of course normally those types usually won't try to get a CCW but there are exceptions.

We do thing different in NC you have to pass 3 written exams and a hands on firing range 50 shot into target ( 3 - 12 yards) with 35 hitting the image minimum acceptable is 70% you can use a .22 on up to a .500 caliber. If you didn't own a pistol you could rent one for $15.00 the box of balls were extra. If you fail you have to pay for a second test day. We had 16 in our class instructor stated this was the first class ever to have a 100% pass ratio. In answer to your question no she does not need a gun.
