No Way

I would like to train to a standard where I could defend my loved ones without fail if the need should arise.

But I want to die a very old man, never having used my firearm against another living soul.

Wasn't it Ayoob who said something like: victory is avoidance; anything else is just damage control.

I like victory!

Two (of many) things I learned from my father while studying Martial arts with him:
1) Violence is the last resort of the incompetant.
2) The kindest thing you can do to some one crazy enough to start a sword fight (same aplies to gun or knife fighting) with you is give them another chance on the wheel of life (re-incarnation).

I dont want to shoot some one, or stab them, or even raise a hand in anger. But once that level of violence has been brought to me there is no choise but to stop it, before it can reach me.

The closest I've ever come is drawing a knife (didnt have my CCW at the time) and making a defensive retreat. In every case just the presence of equal force made the agresor much less interested, and we all walked away. I hope it never goes past that, hell I hope I never have to clear leather with any weapon, but there is no doubt in my mind that if I have to I wont hesitate.

Be Safe,
AE

no I don't want to shoot anyone, already done that, it wasn't fun....

I have had to defend my family three times with firearms, 2x with pistols and once with a scattergun....

the rush is wild, all that adrenaline does strange things, but I can live a lot happier without it.

I love these bananas!!

I've been carrying a bit over 15 years and fortunately - never had an incident that needed me to shoot someone. Granted I stand 6ft 6in tall and 230lbs of dreadlocked (west indian - St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.) , but I assure you - if any of my family members or I was threatened with serious harm - I think there will be some slow singing and flower bringing for the other guy(s).
