When to Begin Carrying?

I have had my permit for over a year now & have yet to carry. I know how to safely handle my firearm (XD40), unload, load the magazine, I have a C-TAC holster, I know how to draw it safely, I can shoot safely, I know the rules.

I have passed the state's test & I have passed the most basic tests I can think of for common sense. Did you guys who are relatively new to firearms do anything else before you started carrying regularly?

Get in the habit of carrying around the house until you get comfortable.

Once you can safely handle your firearm, know your laws, have a good holster/belt, I'd say wait until the day you wake up and know that you'll need it that day. If you haven't got the ability to tell ahead of time when you might need it, I guess you'd better start packing tomorrow. FWIW, I think a basic CCW class taught by a reputable instructor is a fantastic investment if you haven't had one, even if your state doesn't require it.

For what its worth.

You will need to answer the question your self, cause it does make me wonder why you have chosen not to carry. As for me, I could hardly wait.

Nope. I started carrying regularly the day I picked up my permit. I was already aware of the potential threats around me, and the possibility I would need something more than my physical abilities to end a threat favorably.

This is what I'm doing while waiting for my permit... have a S&W model 60, already looking at a SA EMP.
