My son and I did this course in feb. 07. If you don't want to sweat that time of year is a good time to beat the heat. The marine is right you don't get a lot of sleep. This is a great place to hone your skills. Certificates are available on e-bay for this four day course for $99.00 dollars. We will go back and do it again.

Four of us took the 2 day course about 2yrs ago. Can't recall the name of the hotel but it was recommended by FS. The hotel even made box lunches to go that were picked up in the morning.Dang I wish I could recall the name of the hotel. I shot my Glock 36 and had no problems with FTF or FTE. The more mags you take the better.

I have to echo what Jarhead45 has said. I did the 4 day defensive handgun course the 1st weekend in May.
There has been a lot of talk about the sales hype... While on site, there was an OPTIONAL presentation on the First Family program. I felt no pressure to 'drink the kool-aid'. I did watch it... because it was in the only air-conditioned room on site. I brought home a bucket full of new skills to practice, and feel more confident in weapons handling than I've ever felt before. It was amazing to watch how everyone (including ME) improved over the 4 day period. There were enough instructors so that if someone was a bit slow, they got one-on-one instruction to keep the class on pace and on schedule. Most every major platform was represented in the class. A lot of folks had Glocks... several had 1911's, Beretta's, XD's, Sigs, and S&W. There was one Kahr P9 and a Walther PPK. I shot my M&P 9c and it was flawless. After 4 days, I was able to Place a controlled pair (NOT double tap) COM at 15 meters from concealed draw in 1.5 seconds? You Bet! Move off the "X" QUICKLY to prevent becoming a bullet magnet? Yep! Quickly recognize and clear malfunctions while moving off the "X"? Absolutely! Gain additional awareness in Condition Yellow so that I might not ever get into the position where I HAVE to draw? Yes! The staff treated me like I was the only reason they were there. It's DEFINITELY NOT a boot camp. These folks are fierce proponents of 2A, and it has to have an impact on everyone who goes there. It certainly was work... not a leisure course. I was tired after 4 long days of shooting... but I enjoyed it and I learned a lot from it. A 4 day class doesn't make you an expert, but it does send you home with a clearer understanding of defensive handgun tactics along with new or improved skill set. I'm NOT a member, but I will be going again!

By the way, have you attended any other training programs? Can you compare and contrast? Did you find anything there that didn't seem like a positive?

Where do you guys find these free or really cheap training certificates? I can't find anything on Ebay. Interested in places in the midwest if available.

They sell very expensive life memberships. One of the perks are certificates that the member can give to friends/family, or even sell (at one time the idea was you could sell them off to pay for your lifetime membership). go to eBay and search Front Sight Certificate, you'll find some.

I was looking at Front Site's web site and downloaded their pdf brochure.
I see that they perform a criminal background check, prior to approval for taking a class. Thats fine by me. But what is with the "Character Witness Statement"? They require a character witness who is not a family member and has known the applicant for at least 5 years? Thats a bunch of Bull. Front Site will not be getting any of my money in the future!
