Question Daytona Raceway

Hey Guys/Gals,

Long time Reader/Lurker of this forum. I need some professional input on a gray area of Floridas Law. I will be headed to the Daytona area tonight to attend the Brumos Porsche 250 Race at the Daytona International Raceway.
With my permit, am I legal to carry conceled there?!? Im just not sure if its considered a Major Sports Event.
Any Help from some knowledgeable Florida members would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I live in the immediate area and while I've heard of no incidents relative to CCW there I'm also sure that it is prohibited under statute.

That said, I have not heard of any 'wanding' and certainly no search of vehicles less PC....My take is that if you're low key and descrete you'll probably never have a problem.

Not sure what I can say specifically, but....

Security is high, much higher than in the past. A couple of years ago I saw teenaged police explorers checking vehicles with the little rolling mirrors that search the undercarriage. Today I saw and met some ATF dog handlers and some very serious SWAT team members doing the same job. There are also some drug sniffing dogs working the infield, good for some entertainment There are numerous military hazmat/ EOD teams staging in the full view of the public along with the local bomb squad and hazmat (me). This security is all very visible to the public, making me wonder what is behind the scenes so to speak.

Concealed carry is a no-no, but you are probably not more than seconds away from armed LEOs. If I were living in an RV or some such in the infield or parking lots, I would have no problem having a firearm handy.

And as we say, "Welcome, race fans". Hope you liked the race.

LoL, ...Seriously though, I sometimes help with the prepping of our two race cars. Those drivers go through alot. Although you can not compare them to football or soccer players, they still work very hard.

Superhouse 15,

The security was outstanding. Exactly as you described it! I chose to leave my sidearm at home. Although I hate being without Daytona did a good job with safety.

Thanks again for everyones feedback! This forum is a great resource.
