Carry in a Florida Pharmacy

I was taking to a friend who also has a license to carry in Florida and wegot to talking about places where carry is prohibited. He said that in Florida it is not lawful to carry in a pharmacy.

I have checked the Florida Concealed Carry Statutes and can't find anything about carrying in a pharmacy.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks.

Your friend has been sampling too many of the pharmaceuticals......

No problem in a pharmacy. Just out of curiosity, I would like to know where he came up with that one though.....

This is not Germany.

Here, if it is not specifically forbidden it is permitted.

I don't know exactly how it works in Florida, but I've recently discovered that in Alabama there are restrictions placed on concealed carry by the permit-issuing Sheriff which aren't called out in state law. For instance, Alabama law doesn't prevent CCW holders from carrying on the grounds of a public school - but the restrictions on my permit do.

Could there be something similar going on where you are?

Your friend is mistaken. You can carry anyplace that is not covered under Florida statute 790.06.

In FL it was taken out of the hands of the Sherrifs. Dept of Agriculture issues the licenses. Also the state law will not allow any subdivision, section, county, or city to make seperate gun laws.

There is a statute in FL that makes it a felony to possess a concealed firearm in a pharmacy. However, if you read the entire section, there is an exemption for LEO's and those with valid Concealed Weapon Licenses.....

It's a felony (3d degree) to carry a concealed firearm anywhere in FL without a license.

Agreed, but (the last time I read up on the matter) carrying in a pharmacy is a an additional chargeable offense....
