That's why I (1) like a holster that isn't "too comfortable" and (2) I frequently [though discretely] make physical contact with my gun, especially getting out of the car, or leaving my desk chair, etc.

I want to feel it there, and verify it is fully seated in its holster.

Could not even imagine having to walk up to a store manager and asking if he had seen my gun. Could just see him making an Annoucement "Attention shoppers".

Glad it turned out good, I too almost never take my gun out of the holster at night.

Glad it was at your home and things turned out well for you. It will probably be a long time if ever before this happens again.

I guess that is one bad thing about living in an area where you have such long commutes. It would only take me 3 minutes to get back home and check to see if I left it there.

Luckily the only thing I have ever left home was my CHL badge, I mean permit, and not the gun. So long as you can laugh about it, things are ok.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Sounds like you'll learn from this! You'll feel better if you make a list, as others have suggested.

By the way, you can't go wrong with a First Gear jacket. I went ahead and dropped some major cash on the Scout IV and I love it! Aside from the armor, the quality of the leather and the overall craftsmanship, IT LOOKS TOO COOL!

I have a routine that I go through, every morning and every night, that helps me not to forget my gun, magazine, or to chamber a round. As soon as I get dressed, I remove my carry gun from my nightstand holster, drop and reseat the mag, pull the slide back about 1/4 inch and ensure a round is chambered, then holster the gun. Before I go to bed at night, I do exactly the same thing. Works like a charm.

to tell the truth, i'm waiting for this to happen to me. i've lost or forgotten every other conceivable thing, so it stands to reason that my gun would make it on that list. i'd lose my soul, if i didn't have it chained up in the basement.

Okay Longrider; you're a nimrod!

You're a nimrod with integrity who owns his mistakes and immediately takes action to correct them. That's my kind of nimrod.

What you aren't is a sanctimonious blame-shuffler who refuses to even admit the possibility of making a mistake, and who leaves others to clean up his messes and suffer the consequences of his actions.

When you described how sick you felt thinking about someone finding your gun, I got a little sympathetic acid reflux too. That's got to be a horrible sensation.

It's not likely that you'll make that mistake again, but if it so happens - and when you come up with another dumb mistake to make which I'm sure I ... er, I mean you will; you'll make it right. That's all anyone can ask.

Meantime, maybe Kevin will offer a "Longrider" option: put some itchy wool on the back of his overly comfortable holsters so you won't forget you're wearing it.

Shoot well and be safe,
Joe

I do the same, my carry weapon is a colt defender and my home weapon is my XD 45, so thers no need for me to take it out of it's holster.
