I would never OC on the strip. it seems the gun store where i got my XD is utterly full of crap. I live in North town and was told i can't OC, i can't do this, i can't do that...utter bologna.

It's a new world and a whole new experience from me considering i used to live in New Yawk.

There is more than one way to be clueless and I just encountered one today. I am a member of a local health center at a hospital. It is well posted. Recently a dumb a$$ with a CCL was caught carrying there.

About an hour ago a local LEO knocked on my door and told me that someone at the center told security that I supported the dumb a$$ and had said I might carry there to support him. Geez I never said anything of the sort. The only thing I ever said on the topic was that I though that guy was a dummy. How anyone could say that supported him I'll never know.

I do have issues with a person there but the issues are from somewhere else.

Anyhow the conversation with th LEO ended well. He asked me what kind of guns I had and we had a nice conversation.

I did make one mistake. I have a bad habit of standing with my hands in my pocket. He asked me to take my hands out of my pocket as he should. I know better but habits are hard to break.

I was just in The Men's Warehouse buying belts (still can't see spending $90 on a single belt) to see if they will work with my CC. I was up on the stand in front of the mirrors holding up the shirt checking out if I was sagging or not, well if the belt was sagging anyway, and other than the lady helping me (whom I checked with first just to be safe) No one had a clue I was carrying.

That was my first real time out in public and I even lifted my freaking shirt up and turned around in the mirrors to look at all angles.

WOW!

Two thoughts:
1) Most people are WAY more concerned with things about themselves than how YOU look.
2) Many (some?) people would think you are a LEO.

When i am dressed Biz casual, i am more apt. to OC. I look like a cop, but i am really a mild mannered web designer. When i am in my lounge wear, i am more apt to CC unless i am in an area where i am know i will not be hassled (like Pahrump).

Often times, i am in a standard white shirt, with my xd on my hip. One would think a white t shirt will print easily...not really. yes, if you look close, you can see i am carrying and on a few occasions, it was quite obvious. I do not consciously let people know i am carrying. My movements are fluid and i never draw attention to myself. Being my size, i don't think i can ever be print-proof, but when no one notices when i have on a white t-shirt, that leads me to believe people are clueless of their surroundings.
When I first started to carry in public, it felt like everybody knew. I was also worried about printing, but I noticed that people simply aren't looking for people who carry guns. Are they clueless? Maybe, but I think they're mostly brainwashed into thinking that we live in a safe society. Nothing could be further from the truth. People believe that the police will protect them, but they just don't realize that the judicial system has already ruled that it is a "fundamental principle of American law that a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any individual citizen." (Warren v. District of Columbia, 1981).

In 19 years, I don't think anyone has made my pistol and I don't go out of my way to bury it. I've OC'd a few times and I was shocked at the lack of reaction.

I live in a small rural town of around 3,000. If I'm in my town, I am always carrying one hi-cap. gun with one or two reloads.

Any time I leave town, I carry two guns and occasionally three guns (if going to a large city like Kansas City or St. Louis). Each with at least one and usually two reloads.

All my guns are concealed but as you can imagine, sometimes I have a rather obvious bulge or two.

Often times I pocket carry my XD9sc or SP-101 in a DeSantis Nemesis while wearing shorts, dockers or jeans. Now there's a hell of a bulge there with that XD9sc. Not necessarily a gun outline, but a hell of a bulge none the less. I have NEVER had anyone give me a second look, LEO's included.

The merely walk around in a daze oblivious to what goes on around them.

I mean when you get right down to it... visible bulges are almost always dismissed as being anything other than a gun. Pagers, cell phones, PDA's, Sunglass cases or whatever else.

i wonder sometimes if people ever realize how close they come daily to someone with a loaded weapon.

The only ones in society who are actively conscience (hopefully) are LEO's and OCers/CCers...and maybe the occasional Anti.

Hummm... I think the fact that no one has said anything to you, gasped in horror, called the popo or otherwise gave away the fact that they noticed you might make you think that they didn't. In most cases, they probably didn't but I'll bet it's a lot like like seeing rattlesnakes. More of them have seen you than you have seen them!
