The Public is TOTALLY clueless

Living in a society where everyone seems to be looking to be offended, hurt, robs, killed, I am amazed at how clueless the public at large is. I am talking about Concealed Carry. I've been carrying for about a month now. I am a big guy, i carry my 4'' XD9 OWB. I am a a jeans and t shirt guy. I hate dressing up, but i have to for work. When i am dressed Biz casual, i am more apt. to OC. I look like a cop, but i am really a mild mannered web designer. When i am in my lounge wear, i am more apt to CC unless i am in an area where i am know i will not be hassled (like Pahrump).

Often times, i am in a standard white shirt, with my xd on my hip. One would think a white t shirt will print easily...not really. yes, if you look close, you can see i am carrying and on a few occasions, it was quite obvious. I do not consciously let people know i am carrying. My movements are fluid and i never draw attention to myself. Being my size, i don't think i can ever be print-proof, but when no one notices when i have on a white t-shirt, that leads me to believe people are clueless of their surroundings.

I think your observations are generally true. A guy I know carries a PM40 in one of those leather wallet-like holsters, in his back pocket. You can clearly see the gun in his jeans pocket, clear as day, night sights a-glow and all. He's never been asked about it, and I've seen people look right at it. I think most of the sheep will have an inkling what it is but assume it's nothing because he's not threatening or concerning. I bet it would be different if he was walking around with his chest puffed out, acting aggressively, etc.

First off, welcome to the forum! You are absolutely correct about the public being clueless! Most of them wouldn't notice if you were walking around with a badly printing AR rifle under your shirt. As far as your larger size, I have found that larger people actually conceal much easier. I am only 5-10 150lbs, and concealing anything bigger than a subcompact can be a chore for me without a jacket or sweater. Use your size to your advantage!

yea, if their is a small bulge under your shirt, how would anyone know it isn't an iphone, a leatherman, or a diabetes kit for that matter. If people aren't willing to tell you that you have food on your face or a tag still on your shirt, they certianly aren't going to ask you what you have on your belt.

iv considered doing a test of open carrying and timing how long it takes for anyone to notice in a crowded location.. but i really dont want to deal with the hassle if someone actually does. yea. i can wear something where im not only printing as in you can tell somethings there, but where you can tell what it is by the print. nobody ever notices.
i open carried around my old apartment all the time and my roomate never did notice (believe me, she would have said something if she had)

I've OC'd a few times in Vegas and most people don't care. This is odd considering all the horror stories i've heard about people OCing and overzealous Metro cops who dont know state law.

A few cowboy types did notice my XD when i was at the supermarket. i heard one wisper (hey, look...), but that was it. I'd OC more, but i am still building my confidence level up in that arena still.

I was just out at the local Publix supermarket with my boys getting cereal and carrying my Glock19 at the 3:00 position. I was wearing a white polo shirt and jeans shorts. My son even caused me to get into a few conversations with other shoppers and none were the wiser to the fact that i had a loaded weapon on me .

As long as you don't start adjusting your carry piece in public then people really don't pay attention.

True, and nothing about that is going to change any time soon. I've done the white t-shirt before myself.

I agree most of the public won't take much notice or care for that matter as long as they feel they aren't being threatend

We "cowboy types" are more observent then the rest.

I am also in Vegas, and you have figured it out much faster then most of us do. The non-gun wise public would not see your firearm if it was duct-taped to your face.

And Metro knows the law. I believe they will respond if you are seen parading down the strip with your piece in plain sight. I believe they will politely ask you not to upset the tourists. I am sure you will be noticed , and asked to leave any of the strip casinos, if you oc there.

Have fun and be careful.
