Won't the P3AT shoot underwater?

I think we are are overly concerned about such things. But some don't care if they print.
The fanny pack and small gun seem to be the best choice if one is determined to be armed on the beach.

I agree! I wonder how often some "gunnie" sees a fanny pack and assumes there is a gun in it when there isn't. I bet no less than 9 times out of 10. I could be wrong. I was once ,back in 1978 when I thought I was wrong and I wasn't!

Middle age? Mmmmmm...

Well, I don't know many people who are 124, so I think I'm beyond the halfway mark!

This one's kind of hard to explain. My wife and I are into a rather unusual type of entertainment, and I've discovered that normal duct tape adheres very well to human skin. You should also know that I'm quite overweight, bordering on obese. In a flash of revelation one fine morning, I realized that one of the advantages of being rotund is that I'm able to conceal a NAA mini-revolver between the two largest rolls of my belly. A bit of duct tape holds it in place. Its completely invisible when I'm standing or sitting upright. It does show a bit when I recline or lie down, however.
He was asking (jokefully we found out later) about how to carry concealed at a nude beach.

I would use one of these:

with a Kel-Tec or Ruger LCP inside.

Yup, SmartCarry with SP101 and reload. Absolutely no worries.
I typically don't go swimming in the ocean but just wading looking for shells etc.

Seems to me that if you carry to the beach, that your or your wife would always have to stay on the beach while the other one enjoys the water with the kiddo's. I presume that you go to the beach, because you err...uhm, want to actually get in the water. In that case you wouldn't be able to enjoy the water with your wife and kids together.
