I use a fanny pack that says Nikon on it. Holds a small point and shoot camera Glock 26 and my wallet. Perfect for the beach.

Well, the camera bag sure does seem like a good idea.

But in this part of town, a camera bag, fanny pack, or anything else that isn't nailed down and booby trapped just screams "steal me".

Life a full of compromise I suppose.

I hate to admit it but I've considered this. First as kind of a joke but then I tried to figure out how to really do it.

Ewa Marine sells waterproof/under water camera bags that have glove like inserts that allow you to manipulate the controls of your camera.

I've always wondered if it would be reasonable to put a gun in something similar. The idea is that if you need to defend yourself, you're probably no longer concerned about it being waterproof -- just insert your hand in the "glove" portion of the bag and shoot.

If you could find a way to secure this to your body -- maybe under your trunks -- you could probably swim with it. The ewa-marine UF series is what I'm talking about. Here is a link: ewa-marine*:*U-F-Series*

Anyway -- it is kind of far fetched but if anyone wants to make such a thing, I'll buy it.

For a fanny pack check out the Camelback Goblin. I carry a full size 1911 and 2 spare magazines and it screams thirsty. Never had anyone pick up on the fact that I never take a drink, don't want water near my weapon.

I live about 5 mins from the beach, I have carried every time I've been fishing lately. If i decide to swim I figure Ill pass the gun on to one of my buddies with their GFL. Either that or carry my high point 9mm since its disposable and swim with it on.

And because of things like bad knees, hips, gout, or whatever, it's perfectly acceptable to carry a nice heavy hickory walking stick. . . . For medical reasons. . .
