I think that is the hang-up. Their is also a new chief of SLED. Maybe it is taking some time to get oriented to his agenda.

The thing is, SLED is the one that assured the legislature that the number of recognized States would increase. I really don't understand what the delay is.

But yes, Capt Weir is the one in charge of CWP.

Not on the issue of FL/SC reciprocity. In fact, the Florida DoACS/DoL has not replied to me at all, which is rather odd since they normally get back to me within a day or so.

But they never promised to do it fast. So, in reality, the law was useless without SLED being willing to do the right thing. Of course they will argue that it is their duty to be thorough for the people of SC. But in reality they don't seem to have their hearts into it at all and nothing seems to have changed. This is what most of us feared would happen. The change in the law we wanted was an automatic recognition because it was obvious that SLED did not intend to try and reach agreements in any reasonable fashion. They lobbied against automatic and won. So they will continue to drag their feet it seems. Now... when they finally do add one or two we all will proclaim that its working. Fact is they were close to adding one or two already the old way. This thing really accomplished nothing.

Sig - Everyone in the South wants SC to shape up! Any CCW reciprocity maps shows SC as a big red blob... it makes no sense. There are a handful of politicians that are holding them back from getting in line with the rest of the South, and most of the rest of the country for that matter.

I sent an e-mail to VASP to ask them what they know. I will post an answer when (if) I get one.

I encourage everyone here from SC to join GrassRoots SC for only $25.00 for one year membership. They are commited to our gun rights in this State which includes recognition of other States' permits rather than reciprocity agreements. I also encourage those of you from other States hoping for SC to improve its recognition/reciprocity to join as well. GrassRoots South Carolina - Our Goal: Citizens carrying arms whenever and wherever they choose.

How about post here when you do.
