This was pretty much the way the original bill was worded. And it was the one we had hoped to pass. But we failed to get that one passed. It was, and still is, the preferred solution.

Don't you think giving the Federal Government the false belief that they actually have the ability to delegate this right to the States is a bit short sighted?

I think that we (South Carolinians in particular) need to address this within our own States that have the hang up with requiring training. I read of one of our SC legislators being asked if it was necessary for a congressman to demonstrate training in the Constitution before accepting that responsibility.

Swamp Fox, I don't disagree. I was making a statement about the reality of the situation rather than what would be ideal. If I was discussing what it _should_ be, then there would not be a single law on the books which infringes my individual right to keep and bear arms in the United States.

However, idealism aside, if I thought there was a chance of a nationwide CCW law, I would probably support it.

Kentucky Kernel,

Apparently you've heard something more recent than I've heard concerning the new list and its effective date, OR you've possibly misread statements like mine, e.g.; "I DID ... get him (Capt. Weir) to confirm that MY state (KY) was GOING to be on that list WHEN it actually becomes effective"!

See list of states currently shown on SC reciprocity list on SLED website:

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division

What IS prompting your jubilation at THIS point?
