I have been sensing the times are changing, had my LTC for 20yrs,CCed part time, last year it dawned on me it's not safe out there. It seams like more anger, violence and just lack of common courtesy especially on the roads. What is going on with society? Also tired of the laws protecting the BG's, I now carry my .40 everywhere & watch every thing. Glad I don't have neighbors to live by just woods & wildlife. I do know it's tiring to always be on the alert when out & about. My mind can't rest until laying in bed with the 12ga. CLING-ON

Don't forget how transient people here are. With the attrition rate of neighbors in Vegas being so incredibly high, don't expect too much friendliness. I agree, always stay aware and as safe as possible.

It's a sign of the times we live in changing.

There are still places like that, neighborhoods where you know your neighbor and everyone watches out for the other, but it seems to me they are getting fewer and fewer.

My 'hood where I reside now is pretty good. A few of our neighbors keep to themselves, even got a house of drama-queen trouble-makers just down the street, but most are family's with kids (like mine) who play together, watch for each other's children and houses, alert each other of suspicious people or activities, etc. But area's close by are 'shady' and things have occured to re enforce the need to lock doors at night and not to leave the keys in our vehicles......commom sense stuff.

Mayberry is lost.

No fears or concerns (no obvious ones) if walking...even at night. There are 6-7 LE vehicles in our sub of approximately 200 homes (one is a K-9).

Still, I am always armed...always!

Stay armed...always...stay safe!
My neighbor is LEO and parks his marked squad car in his driveway at random times. We have keys for eachother houses. We also have a reciprocity agreement between us. If gunshots are heard next door, don't wait for an invite, come on over & get in some range time.

I recently (end of april) moved into a new house (love it by the way). I have met all neighbors who are around me and thankfully, they are all nice. Either side of me has a couple, and behind me an older couple. We actually all hang out and have a beer when it gets cooler occasionally.

The topic of carry has come up and two of my neighbors have expressed intererst. They know I carry mainly for work, and two are interested in CCW permits. I got them both packets and explained what they needed to do, one has started, the other is working on his wife still... she's a bit apprehensive to him having a gun but has expressed interest in going to the range when she was invited by my gf. Just a matter of everyone finding a time that works.. that's hard to do with nurses let me tell you.. crazy schedules!

My westward neighbor is military.. the one on my east is an electrician and wants to get his permit. The south one is the other who wants to get his permit, although what his job is I really don't know how to explain.

I know what you mean about neighbors not really caring anymore, that's how my last neighborhood was. No one would say hi, no one cared to even introduce themselves. I made attempts and was usually left shaking my head..

Love my new neighbors and the house. Great community honestly.. no 'damn kids' running around beyond the age of 11.. although they are starting to get into things they shouldn't (god i feel old). They were throwing rocks out of one of the yards and I told them to stop, they stood there.. not saying a word and apparently expected me to leave. I waited till they left the alley way before I left.

I like knowing my neighbors, that's how it was growing up. Everyone knew everyone, everyone watched out for everyones kids. Just not the same world that we all grew up in I guess... gotta make due.

my closest neighbor (the one who's name i actually know) is a x degree black belt and martial artist...but no where near trust worthy enough to give 'em my key.

in my old hood, out neighbors had our keys and we have theirs...

We live in a fairly good neighborhood, and go for walks in the early evening. The thing is we are both packing, just in case.

I know my neighbors pretty well. My wife works with two of them. One is the county attorney, another is a judge, another is a jailer, one is a nurse and her husband farms. Another neighbor works for the gas company and one is a teacher.

Now with that said, just around the corner from us are two drug houses, we're in a small town and criminals are very mobile. We've had a string of car break ins, the alley by our house is just as busy as the streets and some parents let kids as young as 10 roam the streets until 2 or 3 in the morning during the summer.

Life is different these days. Glad I decided to get my CC license and have been carrying for a little over a month now.

Know your neighbors and know the BG's in our neighborhood too. That's just as important.
