Terrible restrictions here in Idaho as well. It took me a lengthy 4-5 business days after application and fingerprinting to discover my CWL (Concealed Weapons License here) was approved.

Then about a week wait (not sure why?) to go get the actual license at county sheriff's office.

New Mexico is awful too! I'd move to NJ if I could afford to. Stay where you are, the summers are too hot and it snows all winter. I even give money to those holding "headed east need cash for gas" signs and I give rides to liberals headed for the state line. I'm glad I got that straightened out!

She said,"don't you have any thing good to say ? this is still the greatest nation on earth! After thinking a moment I said, "At least I don't live in Osama's home state of Illinois." She said,"I want to hear something positive about Mass & guns not pointing out a worse state." I said after a long pause," What I do like about Mass. is that concealed carry is so far of the radar not only people are clueless that your packing I never see any signs posted restricting CC." Which brings me to this post, in other states where the gun culture more prominent do you find more or less restrictions on CC?
I know you don't want to hear this but do you complain too much? My father had a bad heart and was pretty much confined to the house for several years. His only "entertainment' was TV and he would watch the news and complain constantly about the libs etc.

Take a break from bashing Mass and Teddy for a while. I know it may be hard but it is better for you. Listen to your wife. In today's society it is easy to become pessimistic and disgruntled. Don't let it spill over into you personal life. Was the first thing you said to your wife when you walked in the door "I want a t-shirt". Take a look in the mirror and listen to your wife. Things aren't so bad, you could be living in Canada or DC.

Good luck and remember the glass is half-full.

Consider yourself VERY lucky! Here in Texas the wait time after the state receives an application for CHL is running 80 to 120 days!

Oregon's an open carry state. It's got constitutional protections, preemption against municipal futzing. It does have a CHL process. CC is disallowed in the courthouse, secure areas of airports. No requirement to notify. Must produce for inspection, if asked. Must be 21yrs old, not be a felon. Must have the CHL on you, if carrying concealed, else you're deemed a criminal. Otherwise, it's fairly open.

Wink Since nobody posted from NH

NH is very similar to PA.

Opencarry without any license is OK but not in a car
license for cc requires no training or fingerprinting
CC allowed everywhere except court buildings
Signs carry no weight of law
License cost $10 for four years and of course, shall issue

Pretty hard to beat NH and PA for CC and OC and NH is real close by for you!

Here in Nevada we can OC anywhere except for North Las Vegas, schools, and government buildings. Signs baning CC are permitted, but if it is discovered you are CCing in a prohibited area, they can only charge you with tresspassing, it might be different in a government building of course. To get a CCW you must pass an approved training course and qualify with every semi-auto you intend to carry. If you want to carry revolvers, you only have to qualify with one. Then you have to pay $100.25 to the Sherrif and wait. The only buisiness I have seen banning guns is the Meadows Mall in Vegas, but obviously they have not read the Nevada Revised Statutes on CCW because the do not have a sign on every public entrance which is reqired to restrict carry.

Down here in Palm Beach County, FL, we had "shall issue" for over 20 years ? and my wife and I got our license in the first few months; in these 20 ? years, I have yet to see a sign on a private business banning guns (anyways it has no legal meaning, the owner can just ask you to leave).
Other than the usual federal places, post office (I haven't seen a post-office thread for a long time - anybody wants to start one ), bars, police station, etc., I've carried everywhere.

Life is choices; once you made your choice, you can see the bad side or the good side; in the first case you'll be unhappy ...
