Restrictions on CC in your state?
After coming home from work today I told the wife that after listening to the radio I wanted to get a T-shirt saying "Silly Liberals paychecks are for workers". She went postal on me, "tired of hearing me complain about the Libs. this lousy state of Mass. I live in, Ted Kennedy's car etc. etc". She said,"don't you have any thing good to say ? this is still the greatest nation on earth! After thinking a moment I said, "At least I don't live in Osama's home state of Illinois." She said,"I want to hear something positive about Mass & guns not pointing out a worse state." I said after a long pause," What I do like about Mass. is that concealed carry is so far of the radar not only people are clueless that your packing I never see any signs posted restricting CC." Which brings me to this post, in other states where the gun culture more prominent do you find more or less restrictions on CC?

Lately I've been seeing some signs on banks and restaurants that prohibit. It's Arkansas, so what can I say? Things catch on kinda slow 'round here, but that's not always a bad thing. I carry everywhere I want to go. Except of course the courthouse and such...from what I hear it's only allowed for an officer of the law to carry or discharge a weapon in government buildings. :)

There's little to no gun culture where I am from and we allow open carry and cc for anyone who's not a criminal, pays a fee and waits 30 days for their permit. State law preempts local ordinances too so cities can't be silly like the East Coast and Midwest.

PA is a great carry state:
- No permit required to OC on foot except in Philly (technically, any "City of the First Class", defined as having a population of 1 million or more. Philly's the only one which qualifies) - Any state's license/permit accepted for OC in a vehicle - Shall issue License To Carry Firearms (LTCF) with no fingerprint or training requirement (although this can limit reciprocity) - Notwithstanding the above, PA LTCF accepted (or not required) in 26 other states (add a UT non-res and get 7 more states) - No restriction on bar/restaurant carry, OC or CC - Gun-Free Zone signs carry no weight of law - No requirement to inform LEO of carry status unless asked - No firearm registration - No roster of "approved" weapons - No magazine capacity restrictions - No "assault weapons" ban - State pre-emption - Only courts, K-12 schools, State parks (but that's under review), and casinos are gun-free zones - Probably a few more I can't think of at the moment... The only problem is we're surrounded on three sides by the May Issue, non-reciprocating, no Non-resident permit states of NY, NJ, and MD ![]()

MD sucks, of course. It is may issue with the state police making the determination, so essentially there is no carry. Massachusetts, at least, is local jurisdiction may issue, so if you live outside the cities it probably isn't so bad.
I visited NC, which, on the surface, seems pretty CC friendly, except there are a juge number of off-limits places built into the law. My dad just moved from there to SC; SC seems good, except for reciprocity (which may be changing). If I could carry there it would seem pretty good. I give PA the best overall CC-friendly score so far. When I looked for their restrictions, I thought I was doing something wrong because I couldn't find them! Don't be drunk with a gun, but no restrictions on CC around alcohol (or even drinking per se). And since OC is legal, there are no issues with accidentally showing. That's probably the major advantage PA has over Texas, it seems.

The Laws in Arizona are terrible and we already have to many people. Stay in Teddy's play ground. Just don't bum a ride across any bridges with him.
